Boomerjack’s Katy · Wednesday, September 23, 2026
Five minutes each on the clock. A packed sports bar. A cold drink by the board. And a game that ended the only way a game should: a tipped king and a handshake.
Wednesday night at Boomerjack’s Katy had everything we love about this club. The clocks were ticking and the pieces were flying, and in between moves the talk was just as lively as the game.
Chess is the excuse. Community is the point.
Why We Play
Strategem Club was never only about who wins. We’re building a community: a place to meet new people, find common topics to talk about, and discover how much we share. A board between two people is one of the best icebreakers around. Somewhere between the opening and the endgame, strangers become friends.

Thank You, Alan and Mila
A big thank-you to Alan and Mila for coming out and bringing such good energy to the night. It was a real pleasure playing chess together, talking about life in general, and finding common ground we can keep building on. That’s the magic of game night: you come for the game and stay for the people.

Blink and You’ll Miss It
Blitz chess is all about quick thinking, sharp instincts and a little bit of nerve. You can see it in the photos: hands hovering over the clock, eyes locked on the board, a middlegame about to go off. Want the whole battle? Watch the full game below, every move from the opening to the final handshake.

Showing Up for Each Other
A community thrives when people keep showing up, for the games and for each other. It doesn’t matter if you’re a rated tournament player, someone dusting off a board you haven’t touched since school, or just curious about what goes on at that table in the corner. There’s a seat for you. Our goal is simple: a welcoming, lively atmosphere where everyone has a good time, learns something new, and leaves with a friend or two.

Your move: join us next Wednesday at Boomerjack’s Katy. Bring a friend, grab a drink and pull up a chair. RSVP on the Events Calendar. We’d love to see you there.
See you at the board,
Jay
