How a club night works

Show up. Sit down. Play.

Most nights run loose and friendly. There’s always an open board, always someone happy to teach, and never any pressure to be good yet.

Our easy social nights run at BoomerJack’s Katy under the Old Town Game Club banner — grab a drink, grab a seat, and we’ll deal you in. Look for events scheduled at different locations around town!

When you’re ready for something sharper, our rated ladders and seasonal tournaments run under US Chess, USBGF, and 42 association rules.

We're at BoomerJack's Katy.

Every club night, rated session, and social game happens at BoomerJack’s Katy under the Old Town Game Club banner. Parking is easy, the bar is good, and we always have a table reserved.

Serving the Katy, Richmond, and Sugar Land area — right off the I-10 corridor.

Full menu and bar service is available at the tables—please support our host venue by grabbing dinner or a drink while you play.

Do I need to know how to play already?

Not at all. Every club night has someone willing to sit down and teach from scratch. We get beginners through their first game of all three in a single evening — regularly. The only expectation is that you’re curious.

Absolutely — we love having young players at the tables! Kids are welcome to jump into chess, backgammon, or Texas 42 right alongside the adults. Just one rule: a parent or guardian needs to stay with them for the whole time they're playing.

Both, depending on the night. Wednesday chess runs as a real rated Swiss tournament under US Chess rules, while backgammon and 42 lean social — chouettes, trash talk, and learn-to-play tables. Come for either mood.

It's dominoes, Texas-style — four players, partners across the table, and bidding like a card game. Equal parts strategy and trash talk; we'll teach you a hand in five minutes.

Yes — our Family membership covers up to four in a household and includes youth coaching slots and family game afternoons. Ask at the table for what's kid-friendly on a given night.

That's most people. Come for chess, backgammon, or 42 alone — nobody's required to play all three, and membership pricing doesn't change either way.
