Noting down moves of one’s games is a sure resource to fall back on for learning for any aspirant at the game. Much as I believe- a bluntest pencil is better than the sharpest memory. Going over your games to analyze and improvise with some solid guidance is the key to venture on the road to chess mastery!
At the start of our tournament while making general announcements about rules, conduct and compliance I encouraged participants to note down their moves at their games. Some participants were noting down moves and they had their material while others were given the option of having score sheets from me for their games.
At the end of the tournament I invited the participants who were noting down their moves to send in their games to me for publishing here with their annotations, analysis and comments. I heard back from our tournament winner – Jivitesh Praveen and Ronan Parashar.
I’m delighted to share their games with their input for all to review and revise. This will surely inspire others to absorb this discipline in their routine. Ronan’s comments are marked RP, Jivitesh’s comments are marked JP in the last game. I’ve included my own comments (JB) for the game between Jivitesh and Ronan with analysis for everyone’s review and revision.

Jivitesh further mentioned “Strategem offered me an opportunity to compete against promising players with different strengths and potential. The games were well organized with just the right amount of time to relax between rounds to maintain the momentum. The choice of the location was another attraction for me because there are not that many clubs organizing regular tournaments close to home in Katy yet. Thanks to Strategem. I hope they organize regular tournaments in Katy henceforth. Good luck.”
I’m glad the participants had a positive experience at the Tournament. I’ll be sure to keep them motivated on their road to chess mastery!
